Heartgard Plus Heartworm Control
HeartgardŽ is a monthly medication for the prevention of heartworms in dogs. HeartgardŽ tablets prevent heartworm disease in dogs by eliminating heartworm larvae that infected the dog in the month before treatment. HeartgardŽ also controls heartworm infections acquired in the previous 4 months provided monthly treatment is continued for at least 12 months.
HeartgardŽ has a wide safety margin in all breeds of dogs, including pregnant females, breeding bitches, stud dogs and puppies 6 weeks of age and older. Dogs over 6-months of age should be tested for heartworm disease prior to using HeartgardŽ, and tested annually thereafter.
